Organization wise, I think the camp went great. I
wish we had a quarterback there, but Karon did a
great job giving us a very good look at QB with
the wide receivers.
One exciting thing I would like to see is coach
Vernon Hughes, the new Offensive Coordinator,
where he will take this offense. He is more than
excited to get things started now. The guys he
have to help him out with that side of the ball
know what they are doing and will do great things
with this organization.
The season hasn't started and I feel that we are
off to a good start. The next workout will be on
December 19th at the same place. I really hope
that we have a better turn out than we had in
November.
New team, new talent and what a time we had at
the very first off season workout for the 2010
Midwest Charger season. A large handful of guys
show up to see what we were all about and the
coaching staff were eager to meet these potential
players. This being a newly overhauled team,
everyone from the top to the bottom has something
to prove. Not to anyone in the league, but to them
selves.
First up for the newer guys participating, they have
to make the squad. Taking a rep off or coming in
waiting to see what this is all about and you are
already behind. Looking at the new guys with a
critical eye, there were a few guys that needed to
get in shape to crack the roster, but there were a
good handful of guys that meant business. I
haven't seen that guy that just has it from the start
like Trey Dorman did last year for the Cyclones,
but I did see some guys that really wanted to make
a statement being there.
Looking at the returning guys... What can I say,
about eight returning guys showed up leading to a
very dissappointing outlook. This was your team!
You needed to represent a bit more than what you
did. I will be making cuts and no one is safe. You
are making my job really easy for me.
The good thing is that the guys that did show up
look like they were in the gym. They understood
the challenge and actually did something about it.
It is going to be hard to get their roster spots from
them! I wish you can encourage your brothers the
same way.
